Intentional Care For Your Skin Lowers Ageing Effect. Facial Skin Ageing

Facial Skin Ageing: This Tip Will Make You Younger

Ageing shows more on the facial skin. It shows all the changes that have happened to your skin through life.

If you have ever desired that your facial skin remained young, the suggestions in this article will help.

As some persons age, you will notice that they shrink. Ageing often makes the skin lose fat and become thinner and drier.

As much as you cannot reverse the effects of time and life on your skin, there are few things you can do.

One of them is to slow down the rate at which the skin shrinks and reveals the effect of age.

Simple facial skin care routine can help reverse skin damages that may have occurred. It also prevents further effects of ageing.

Here are three things experts at the Harvard Medical School suggest you could do to slow down the effect of ageing on your skin.

1.      Check Your Creams’ Content

If you want to look younger, your cream is the first thing to look into. We know you definitely need to apply cream on your skin.

The content of the cream you use contributes to how much the rays from the sun affect your skin.

A 2017 study suggests that vitamin C is great for the skin.

In Nigeria, we are getting into a period where the sun will be high, producing uncomfortable effects – sunburns and wrinkles – on your skin.

The study suggests that vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that can neutralise and remove oxidants, such as those found in environmental pollutants and after exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

These things mess your skin up.

“This activity appears to be of particular importance in the epidermis, where vitamin C is concentrated in the skin.

“However, vitamin C is only one player in the antioxidant arsenal that includes enzymatic defences (catalase, glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase) as well as other non-enzymatic defences.”

Another vitamin that experts suggest is helpful is vitamin A.

Simple habits like checking your lotion to ensure that it contains retinoid, a compound derived from vitamin A is a great treasure.

The Harvard Medical School says retinoids increase collagen (the most abundant protein in the body) and help strengthen skin and reduce wrinkles and sun spots.

“Choose products with retinol or adapalene as the active ingredient. Use a pea-sized amount over your entire face before bedtime.”

If you live in Nigeria, or the tropics with high degree of sunlight, do not use retinoids in the daytime.

Experts recommend that you apply retinol every three days at first, as they can irritate the skin if overused.

Moisturisers

Using a moisturiser is great after washing your face. It helps protect the skin by ensuring that the skin’s outer barrier is recreated.

Indeed, this prevents moisture from escaping and stops foreign substances from getting in.

Check out for moisturisers with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, glycolic acid, and squalene, which help keep skin hydrated. Also. vitamin C or azelaic acid can help specifically with dark spots.

However, if you live in Nigeria, be mindful of the fact that most lotion moisturisers often make you sweat. Be cautious of how you apply moisturisers in the afternoon  on a sunny day.

2.      Wash Face Intentionally

Each time you bath and want to wash your face, you should consider what you use to wash it. The number of times you also wash your face each day play a role in giving you a younger look.

The soap has to be mild. Some soaps will remove the outer layer of your skin that makes your skin stay moist.

If you have a sensitive skin, you should ensure that you choose a gentle soap. Also avoid using scrubs that are hard or with particles that can irritate your skin. This could cause more rashes, dryness or irregular pigmentation.

One way to maintain a good face washing habit is to keep the soap you wash your face with close to where you brush your teeth.

3.      Apply Sunscreen To Reduce Ageing

You may not really need a sunscreen of you are dark. But persons that are fair and also use some cream to enhance their colour need sunscreen.

Really, you should apply sunscreen to your face, especially around the eyes, as well as your neck, and ears.

It guards against skin cancer and the aging effects from sun exposure.

Also, sunscreen helps to prevent brown spots and to keep existing ones from worsening.

Experts recommend that you use sunscreen with at least a 30 SPF (sun protection factor).

Also, look for products labeled for sensitive skin or children. Avoid spray sunscreens, which contain alcohol that can burn.
