Ovulation: How To Know When Egg Is Released For Fertilisation

The matter of ovulation is a great deal for women and even men. Knowing some things about it has a great benefit.

Most importantly, if is necessary that couples who are waiting to conceive shoot that one shot during ovulation.

To hit target, a couple should know when the egg is available for fertilisation.

Sometimes, women just feel the entire time of ovulation is when they can conceive.

Sadly, some think they have so much eggs that they can give during this time.

Hmmmm!

The truth is that only a single egg drops for fertilisation in each ovulation period.

The exception is what results in fraternal twins. But that is very rare.

In Nigeria, we often marry late and this plays a role. A woman’s fertility level begins to drop at 37.

Remember the diminishing marginal utility thing in economics. At 37, fertility has peaked and then it begins to head south.

As a lady, the kind of food or activities that you engage in and other health conditions affect how much (immature) eggs you loses each month.

Indeed, many women have gone for fertility confirmatory test and they are told; ‘everything is fine‘.

Indirectly, a 12-hour peak period is all a woman has each time ovulation happens.

One can say that in a month, a woman has just 12 hours for the man to shoot his shot. So, that is about 1.8% of the total hours in a month. That is when ovulation occurs ones in a month.

Basically, 47.2% did not know what ovulation is, 67.2% did not know ovulation timing, 79.2% did not know the number of eggs released from an ovary each month .

About how long an egg or sperm could live in a woman’s body, 62.4% were not aware.

An average menstrual cycle, counting the first day of heavy flow as Day 1, is usually 28 to 32 days.

A women with a 28-day menstrual cycle often ovulate 13 to 15 days after the start of their last period.

For instance, if a woman’s period begins on March 1, she will likely ovulate between 13 and 15 March.

Categorically, before ovulation, women experience acute rise in luteinising hormone (LH). This is the gonadotrophic hormone produced and released by cells in the anterior pituitary gland.

The surge often results in ovarian hormone production and egg maturation.

Within 24 to 36 hours that acute LH is noticed, a mature egg will be released (or ovulated) for fertilisation.

This egg is then available for between 12 to 24 hours and if no fertilisation happens the uterus lining sheds and prepares the woman for next cycle of menstruation.

You see how tricky it could be.

Hormone Surge Uneasiness

A woman has to pay close attention to her body within the ovulation period to know when the hormone surge happens.

Most importantly, she has to engage in sexual intercourse as often as possible during the ovulation window so that the semen can meet the egg in the first few hours it is released.

Unfortunately, ovulation period is when some women have a form of uneasiness that results in quarrels and misunderstandings between them and their spouse.

The truth is that men do not really understand how this hormone surge cause uneasiness for women. They do not know how irritated women could be at this time.

As such, they may even fuel the quarrel.

A woman needs to calm herself as much as possible during this time to ensure that sex happens.

It is when sexual intercourse happens at the peak of this period that chances of conception are higher.

Take your time to observe your body, study and know the things you should know as a woman.
